Waterloo 200 - Capturing of the Eagle of the 105th Ligne

Been a little while due to life problems and work commitments..... Thought I would show off something with a Waterloo theme.......

Firstly, capture of the Eagle of the 105th Ligne by Captain Clark and Cpl Stiles of the 1st(Royal) Dragoons

Controversy still surrounds the capture of the Eagle and a discussion on this can be found in Adkins, The Waterloo Companion p417 to 418

Remembrance..............November 2014

What with the centenary of the start of the First World War, the moving visit with the family to the poppies at the Tower in August and today being Remembrance Sunday I decided to dig out a figure that I bought a while back that was being sold in aid of Combat Stress.

After painting it up I decided on a very simple tableau.........

The grave marker is painted with a single word..........

 'UNKNOWN'

............the piece is dedicated to all those men, women and children who have lost their lives as the result of conflict.

On this day we especially remember the young men from our families who lost their lives in the First World War......
