Remembrance..............November 2014

What with the centenary of the start of the First World War, the moving visit with the family to the poppies at the Tower in August and today being Remembrance Sunday I decided to dig out a figure that I bought a while back that was being sold in aid of Combat Stress.

After painting it up I decided on a very simple tableau.........

The grave marker is painted with a single word..........

 'UNKNOWN'

............the piece is dedicated to all those men, women and children who have lost their lives as the result of conflict.

On this day we especially remember the young men from our families who lost their lives in the First World War......

7th Hussars - 28mm Britannia Miniature WIP

The 7th Hussars were the only French Hussar unit at Waterloo..... Others were detached with other parts of the army. These are the penultimate cavalry figures that I have left to paint for the stand so I started to think about these miniatures today and decided to paint one up as a practice piece.....

Fairly happy with the results so will finish him off tomorrow and then think about doing the rest of the unit

Available from here:

Blood Swept Lands and Seas of Red....

Went to London yesterday with the family.........

Went down to the Tower and was moved by the latest art installation in the moat. Thought I would share it with you.......

If you can get to see it I would recommend it.

The moat is being filled between 1st August and 11th November 2014 with 888,246 ceramic poppies.........

This represents one for each British and Commonwealth solider killed during 'The Great War'

A wave of poppies engulfing visitors.......

The poppies can be purchased with the proceeds going to six of the charities who support servicemen and their families

After visiting we purchased one of the poppies and will be recipients of poppy no 296641when the installation finishes.....

28mm Perry British RHA Limber and Howitzer

Ok so a question was asked on TMP about how people base their limber teams..... The following shots are of my first, nearly, completed limber team for my RHA battery. Figures are by Perry and the pill bases are done by Warbases..... I think this will give me a degree of flexibility as to how I use these on the table top without the bases becoming too big.....

Final battery will consist of three cannon, three limber teams, three ammunition carts and teams and a field forge.....

What I would like to find are mounted RHA gunners as opposed to officers to help depict the battery in transit..... Any ideas anyone?

Gun and limber still need weathering and attaching to base.....
