Waterloo 200 - Capturing of the Eagle of the 105th Ligne

Been a little while due to life problems and work commitments..... Thought I would show off something with a Waterloo theme.......

Firstly, capture of the Eagle of the 105th Ligne by Captain Clark and Cpl Stiles of the 1st(Royal) Dragoons

Controversy still surrounds the capture of the Eagle and a discussion on this can be found in Adkins, The Waterloo Companion p417 to 418

7th Hussars - 28mm Britannia Miniature WIP

The 7th Hussars were the only French Hussar unit at Waterloo..... Others were detached with other parts of the army. These are the penultimate cavalry figures that I have left to paint for the stand so I started to think about these miniatures today and decided to paint one up as a practice piece.....

Fairly happy with the results so will finish him off tomorrow and then think about doing the rest of the unit

Available from here:

28mm Warbases Celtic Cross

After yesterday's disastrous trip to Phalanx.....van broke down so no stock and no Andy....... I haven't been able to get the horses and next sets of cavalry so I will have to work out with Andy how I am going to get them.....

Anyway before I came away I picked up one or two bits and pieces and when I got home I decided to paint up this 28mm Celtic Cross that Martin and Diane from Warbases had brought down for me.... Don't think it's on their web site yet but if you drop them a line I am sure they will help you out.....great people and great products...

Update.... Diane tells me it is now listed on their website....

A little bit of researched quickly informed me that these crosses were often brightly painted so I thought I would give it a go......

It's a 7 piece kit .....I haven't done the other two pieces of the stepped base and I will definitely be getting a couple more to grace my SAGA games table

This cross will be used for the backdrop of the Viking figure display eventually.

28mm Britannia Miniatures French Napoleonic Currasiers

So the anniversary of the battle of Quatre-Bras is almost upon us so I thought I would do a blitz paint up of some of the Britannia Cuirassiers that I picked up from Andy at Sheffield. Unfortunately I discovered that I can't count either and I am four heavy horse short..... So I will pick them up along with some Lancers and Hussars at Phalanx at the weekend.

The figures are very much in the style of the Carabineers and do give the feeling of big men on big horses......I think I will paint them as the 2nd Regiment......

The 2nd Regt fought at both Quatre-Bras and Waterloo

So here are the pictures..... Not the best as I used the ipad...... Figures have been cleaned and under coated with Humbrol black enamal
